Event description
The University of Manchester is proud to host, in our bicentenary year, the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) World Academic Summit from 7–9 October 2024.
More than 500 delegates from around the world will convene on campus – and venues across the city, including the Science and Industry Museum and the Whitworth – for THE’s annual, flagship event. This year the Summit focuses on social responsibility and the obligation of universities to make a real difference to people’s lives, under the theme: ‘Making a difference: The purpose of universities in a rapidly changing world’.
A packed agenda features more than 100 esteemed speakers from across the globe, including 91Ö±²¥’s new President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Duncan Ivison.
Some of the world’s most inspiring thought leaders and influential changemakers will explore how higher education, industry and policymakers might work together to ensure universities can act as drivers of positive change within local, national and international communities.
The event will tackle some of the key questions facing higher education today, including:
- The importance of civic responsibility
- Driving innovation
- Collaboration within and between institutions
- Global impact for the common good
It will also feature an exclusive reveal of the THE World University Rankings 2025, plus an in-depth masterclass from THE’s data team.
